  • 1991 - makes F1 debut for Jordan at the Belgian GP, signs for Benetton a week later, finishes 14th in the drivers championship;
  • 1992 - wins first GP (Belgium), 3rd;
  • 1993 - wins in Portugal, 4th;
  • 1994 - collides with Damon Hill in the title decider in Australia, season marred by Ayrton Senna's death, 1st;
  • 1995 - beats Hill by 33 points to retain title and help Benetton to win first constructors championship, 1st;
  • 1996 - joins Ferrari, 3rd;
  • 1997 - finishes second in championship but disqualified after driving into Jacques Villeneuve in final race of the season;
